Senior Leader at St. Louis-Based Ascension, the World’s Largest Catholic Health System, Brings Awareness to Youth Homelessness
Covenant House Missouri (CHMO) is honored to announce that Laura and Brad Partridge will co-chair the fifth annual Sleep Out: Executive Edition on November 17, 2016. This incredible event gathers together prominent St. Louis leaders who each promise to raise at least $5,000 and spend one night outside on the CHMO parking lot to support Covenant House Missouri’s efforts to empower youth from homelessness to independence.
Partridge, a member of CHMO’s Board of Directors, was a “Sleeper” last year. “Before we went outside, we had the opportunity to meet and interact with the youth,” Partridge says. “I met a girl whose parents died and lived for a time shuffling between other relatives and on the streets before coming to Covenant House. Now, she is on a path toward a better future.”
Sleep Out: Executive Edition is a national event, and the current 17 Covenant House sites in the United States and Canada participate on the same night. As Vice President of Strategy for St. Louis-based Ascension Health, the largest nonprofit health system in the U.S. and the world’s largest Catholic health system, Partridge hopes to build teams across the country. “Ascension’s Mission calls me to serve those who are vulnerable and to be an advocate for a compassionate and just society through my actions and my words,” Partridge says. “I was motivated to sleep out and support Covenant House of Missouri’s efforts to empower those they serve to pursue a life of opportunity because I can think of no greater injustice or condition of vulnerability than being a homeless young person.”
This event will be the fifth Sleep Out hosted by Covenant House Missouri. Last year the event was co-chaired by Express Scripts Chief Executive Officer and President, Tim Wentworth, and his wife Robin. Together, the Wentworths led a group of more than 20 executives to raise $283,000, a record for the event.
